Oil Field Materials

Primary market — Oil Field Materials

Silica fume for cementing and high-performance systems

Ultra-fine amorphous silica supplied in densified and undensified forms. Used where a cementitious or refractory system needs a finer, more reactive mineral phase than cement alone provides.

Product overview

A pozzolanic addition that works at a particle scale the cement itself cannot reach.

Silica fume is an ultra-fine amorphous silica used to modify the microstructure of cementitious systems. In oil-well cementing it is specified where slurry stability, permeability and strength development need to be controlled together.

NPE supplies both densified and undensified forms. The choice affects batching, handling and dispersion, so it is agreed with the customer alongside the grade rather than assumed.

Grades and technical specifications are available on request. Each consignment is released against the specification agreed with the customer and shipped with the documentation the destination market requires.

Key benefits

What silica fume change in your system

Each point below is a reason the material is specified. Values are not published; grades and technical specifications are available on request.

Pozzolanic reactivity

Reacts within the cementitious system to modify the hardened microstructure.

Permeability control

Used where a denser, less permeable set matrix is required in the placed system.

Refractory duty

Used as a fine mineral addition in castables and monolithic refractory systems.

Form selection

Densified and undensified supply allows the form to match the customer's batching and dispersion practice.

Consistent supply

Supplied continuously against the agreed grade so mix designs stay stable.

Bulk or bagged

Packing formats selected for the destination market and handling equipment.

Applications

Where the material earns its place

Duties the material is supplied into, with grade selection confirmed with our technical team before the first order.

01

Oil-well cementing

Slurry systems where stability, permeability and strength development are controlled together.

02

High-performance concrete

Cementitious systems requiring a fine pozzolanic addition.

03

Sprayed concrete and repair

Mixes where cohesion and adhesion are important to placement.

04

Refractory castables

Monolithic and castable systems using a fine silica phase.

05

Grouts and specialty mortars

Systems needing controlled rheology and a dense set matrix.
